Hello! I’m Horatiu Lazu, a Software Engineer based in New York City at Meta working on Messaging Infrastructure. My primary focus revolves around the Core Services that drive messaging, covering aspects like storage, caching, and queuing. If you’ve ever used Messenger or Instagram, you’ve used our services!

I graduated from UWaterloo in 2021 where I studied Computer Science, and was fortunate to have:

• Engaged in undergraduate research with the Data Systems Group, where I co-authored papers at the SIGMOD 2022 and VLDB 2022 conferences.
• Embarked on numerous internships including Google remotely, Facebook in Seattle, Citadel Securities in Chicago, Yelp in San Francisco, and twice at Bloomberg LP in New York.

Outside of work, my hobbies include cycling, travelling, reading papers, and making YouTube videos.
